Winners for Shop Rotorua Top Staff Awards August 09...
Richard Anaru from The Rock Shop
Richard has been a top class musician for many years so I was well pleased when he agreed to work for me at the Rock Shop. I am sure Richard had not planned to stay as long as he has or expetcted to enjoy working for such a fantastic boss like myself - being that he is such a 'Rock Star'!!! Seriously - the experience Richard has within the industry has been invaluable to our customers, allowing them to make informed decisions about their purchases. He is a great part of the Rock Shop family and well deserves a Top Staff Award.
Nomination from Daryl Cogger - GM of The Rock Shop Rotorua
Maria Rua from The Warehouse in Central Mall
Maria Rua works in our footwear department and is Top Staff material. Always works over and above the call of duty Maria is a team member I can rely on to get the job done. Her excellent customer service is a great example for the rest of the team here. Working with Maria you are guaranteed a great laugh to - because of her sense of humour.
Nomination from Hemoata Macown - Service Team leader at The Warehouse Central Mall
Kim Patel from Lakeland Queen
Kim is the Lakeland Queens food and beverage manager and has been employed with us for over the past 18 months. During her period with us she has never faltered in her performance. Kim will always go that extra mile for her guests, staff and employer. In the past few weeks we have gone through a restructure and a few staff illness's which has impacted on everyone. Kim has been a tower of strength with her postivie attitude and always the first to put her hand up for extra duties or to help someone out. We have an employee of the month voted by the staff each month. Kim is always there, but has always been given to another member due to the policy it is not fror management. However I think she needs a big pat on the back and deserves to b e recognized not only by the team but also by the community.
Nomination from Denise Siviter - GM and Marketing Manager for Lakeland Queen.

TOP STAFF - Amanda Cumberlidge from Team Sport & Leisure
Amanda totally deserves to be a winner for May. My 3 year old daughter was rushed to hospital & was put in isolation with a lethal bug that attacks the kidneys, spleen & liver. Amanda worked the entire week from Monday to Sunday on her own no breaks, lunch nothing. Thanks to Amanda I was able to be at my daughters beside. I did not have to worry about work, I was able to focus on her getting better. Thank you Amanda for that week of total commitment to work.
Nomination from: Monique team member of Team Sport & Leisure
TOP STAFF - Adrienne Lutui from Credit Union
We would like to nominate our staff member Adrienne Lutui for Top Staff for this month, please.
Adrienne has been working for us just over one year. In that time, she has quietly become indispensable amongst our 15 staff. She is very results focused no matter what the job, however basic or challenging. You can count on Adrienne to willingly accept and complete tasks other staff might find daunting, but all done in a very unpretentious manner. She deals with customers in a friendly and unflappable manner, and systematically works through any of their concerns to achieve outcomes satisfactory to all parties. She is pro-active in making contact with customers, and has a great mix of administration and customer service skills. She uses this to think ahead and anticipate and alleviate potential concerns we wish we could take the credit for training her for this but it is actually difficult to train for. We have thrown a number of tasks to her which would not normally be part of her job description, such getting our public internet sites functional, or paying accounts, or helping with staff overloads in the insurance area and all are dealt with efficiently. Her only apparent weakness is excessive modesty, which is why we are nominating her. I could continue, but I think you get the picture!
Thank you for considering our nomination of Adrienne for the Top Staff award.
Nomination: Philippa Wills, General Manager Lakeland Credit Union.
Our winners this month all received a $50 Gift Voucher from Ambrosia Restaurant

RED RAT - ROTORUA
Karlie Herbert came to me about 1 years ago from being a waitress at cob & co, she declared to me that I just had to hire her right than & there! She said she would be a shining star & show me that she would succeed & make me realize I had made the right decision. She had no retail exp, but she had a heart & soul & tremendous drive! I could it see it in her determination as she stood before me. I hired her while I was in Rotorua & she started PT time for the Rotorua store, she soon worked her way up to management with in the year, whilst able to sneak off & have another baby to add to the 4 gems she already has, within 4 days of birth she was in the store checking on them.( as I am based in Auckland ). The store is another of her babies, even thou we are tucked away down Hinemoa St & have very little retail around us, Karlie has never lost the drive to push the store to succeed & drive her team to the limits. She will be out there in the main drag trying to persuade the customers to come down our street, or go do letter box runs, she was the driving force behind the success of our tent at the front of Ragamuffin that brought us a whole new customer base! She is so excited & passionate about Rotorua & the great things the area & the community have to offer that she makes our store the success it is today. She will get in behind any marketing idea with full swing the council can offer, & so far they have all proved to be extremely helpful to our business in the area. Nomination: Chantelle East Sales manager/buyer/designer/shareholder for RED RAT

Well that would just have to be SARNDRA KNOX. Have you seen how friendly she is to all of our wonderful customers, actually, have you seen how friendly she is Full Stop! She always goes out of her way to ensure all customers feel so welcome (sometimes chatting too much ha ha!) but it sure seems to make it a pleasure to many who I hear (from out the back of the shop) leave in laughter. She often pinches me on the bum when passing!! DELETE THAT BIT! She always ensures that all of the job cards are filled out perfectly also, which ensures that all of our production is completed correctly the first time which makes the others staffs jobs a lot easier. Why shouldnt she have all the fun, she deserves it! Nomination from Graham Knox.
